More catching up

By

This past Thursday afternoon was the regularly scheduled meeting of the Repro Club at my local quilt shop (Springwater Designs). The quilt above was one that Dawn shared during the meeting – it is hand pieced and hand quilted. I thought it was beautiful and took photos to share.

Another thing that happened during my ‘interim’ period between blogs was a health event with my husband. Poor man, he is still recovering from the stress! He had to have emergency surgery on his abdomen and is still healing. He was quite sick (was in hospital for nine full days) and I’ve been rather hovering over him since.

I have not done a lot of sewing during this fall – but I’m slowly getting back to my machine, now that it is working properly again.

Friday was our day to buy mutual holiday gifts for one another. Skip and I spent a couple of hours at the Apple Store in Columbia Mall, buying new iPhones. We get new ones every four or five years (we are not trendsetters:). I was astonished when he decided to buy the top of the line for me (iPhone 17 pro max, 2 terrabytes of memory!) and penultimate model for himself. Got a new phone for our son, too (his phone was so old it could no longer be updated:).

The only sad thing about parting with my old phone is pretty minor – it was purple and the new one is orange. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like color!

My new phone is probably 30% or so larger than the old one and I am still adjusting to the new feel – makes me think I am handling an actual brick. ๐Ÿ™‚ The screen is pretty, though and it takes awesome photos.

Saturday was meant to be an errand running afternoon but I felt under the weather and so laid around instead. ๐Ÿ˜› Sunday my Sew&Tell group met via Zoom … and I ducked out of that to attend the Zoom meeting of the Baltimore Applique Society (Julie Silber, a well-known collector and dealer of antique quilts talked about using text on quilts – it was a really interesting lecture with some astonishing antique examples of lettering/writing on fabric).

Today my son, Hugh, and I spent running errands (the ones I neglected on Saturday). We managed to take his phone to T-Mobil to get the number from his old phone transferred to the new phone … visit Home Depot to buy light bulbs for my brother Kevin’s condo (the kitchen and dining room fixtures are not standard) … eat lunch at Panera (I had cranberry walnut chicken salad, YUM!) … and finally take Hugh’s old phone back to Apple for it’s trade-in value. We were out for four and a half hours, doing!

When we got back I ordered groceries from Wegmans (for delivery) and then kind of blanked out while reading email and blogs. LOL. Used up all my ‘do’ for the day.

Tomorrow is the weekly grocery trip with/for my brother, Kevin. Onward and upward!

๐Ÿ™‚ Linda
