We had an unconventional Christmas holiday here chez Schiffer. ๐ My son and I made two delicious chicken pot pies, one of which we ate for evening treat. Friday I spent with a bit of sewing and watching my sweetheart play video games (which he enjoys and I like watching). The weather was lovely on Thursday (Christmas Day), though a bit cold. Blue skies, temperatures in the 40s.
Friday was gray to the max, though. I went over to my brother’s condo to visit with him for a while in the afternoon. He seems to be doing well. I took him out for lunch (Pizza Hut, one of his favorites) and a country drive.
I did spend some time doing paper creative play while at his place – made five pages in my current junk journal. Getting pretty close to the end of the book (bought a nice leather journal with assorted paper pages from a dealer online) … will get to start another one when I’m done with this one.
I did try to focus on my jigsaw puzzle for a while but could not wrap my head around it very well. Ended up helping Kevin with his – a Kincade-esque country farm scene I bought him from the Iowa Quilt Museum gift shop last summer. He’s so much better at jigsaws than I am. ๐
Today, the 27th, is the 50th anniversary of my marriage to my sweetheart. In deference to his current health (still healing/recovering from abdominal surgery), we did nothing in particular but spend the day together. I am hoping to pull him away to some kind of adventure later this year when he feels stronger.
I’ve been thinking about the rail journey across southern Canada along the Rocky Mountains … or maybe a riverboat cruise along the Mississippi. ๐

PS Just a note for my own records – I’ve started back on the allergy treatments. Self-administered shots every other day. The last series I went through (about 1.5 years, just before the Covid shutdown) ‘cured’ my cat allergy. I am hoping this one will clear up the mold and field weeds one. Fingers crossed. ๐
