snowing today

This has been an interesting weekend. Friday I got to sew with my friends Barbara and Patty. Barbara has recovered from her shoulder replacement enough to be able to sew at her machine (slowly and carefully) … so we met at her house in the afternoon for Sewing Together. I took my hand embroidery tote but had a great deal of trouble concentrating on anything. I mostly spent the afternoon chatting – I’ve missed the social connection with friends. ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday morning early (i.e., 8 a.m.) my son woke me up to cook our dinner – well, to assemble the ingredients and plot them into our slow cooker. We cobbled up white chicken chili (which turned out to be delicious!). After we finished that, I went back to sleep until about noon.

I meant to spend the afternoon preparing for today’s meeting of the Sew&Tell group (again, at Barbara’s house). I needed to wrap holiday gifts (there are nine of us, at present, in the group and we exchange gifts every Christmas/Hannukah). Sadly, I was extremely under-motivated and did nothing all afternoon instead – read a little, watched a little Netflix. Tried to stay warm. It has been cold (for Maryland) with daily high temperatures around freezing. Not bad if you live in Wisconsin or Minnesota, pretty cold for the midAtlantic states. ๐Ÿ˜›

There was a bit of snow fall in the early morning on Saturday but it all melted off by early afternoon. Today when I went out it was raining and cold. I stopped at the local grocery to buy a contribution for our customary potluck – I chose dried apricots and a nut/fruit mix labeled High in Omega-3 fatty acids/antioxidants. I had to go back to my house to pick up my sewing project (embroidery) as I forgot it in the dither to get my act together that morning. ๐Ÿ˜›

It was wonderful to see my friends. Two of us did not get to the meeting – one because her driveway was iced up and she did not want to travel, the other because her father was in hospital and she was there with him. It was a pleasure to see everyone, to eat together and to swap gifts. Show and tell was inspiring, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

By the time I started home it had started snowing again. Came down in tiny flakes, lots of them. Be interesting to see tomorrow how much lasted. It was COLD. I have clearly lost any cold tolerance I built up while living in Wisconsin (not to mention that I no longer have an appropriate wardrobe).

Tomorrow I have to take my husband to a doctor’s appointment … and my guild has our monthly zoom meeting in the evening. Otherwise, I think I will do laundry … and possibly sew some. I need to piece my crazy quilt block and gather up my embroidery resources to teach.
