Winter here in Columbia MD is typically 40 degrees and rain – cold and dank. This year March has been all four seasons (sometimes all in one day). We have had at least two major snow falls – one with a deep layer of ice on top of the snow (strong enough to hold my weight!). There are still bits of that snow left in shadowy areas around here. The second – photo above – was softer and melted by afternoon of the same day it fell. In between we had at least one day that got up to 79 degrees!
Today was lovely – warm (high 70s) and breezy. Smelled like spring – my daffodils are flowering (here they are, right after the snow shown above melted):

They grew pretty fast once the ground began to thaw. These flowers stand right in front of our door and often bloom first in spring. One year they were blooming for my daughter’s birthday in late February.
I’ve been doing less sewing than I’d like recently. My son has been sick (he does not drive so I am Taxi Mom to take him to the ER or doctor’s appointments). He had to have his gall bladder removed (laproscopic surgery) this past Friday … but seems to be doing well now. He is in good health and is fairly young (41) which surely helps a quick recovery. 🙂
I did take a zoom class with Brandon Wulff called Biscotti Quilting. Here is the photo of a corner of my stage one piece, a log cabin with thick and thin strips. The red print to the side is a Dutch Wax Batik panel I picked up on a guild show boutique table recently. I don’t know if I took a photo of the finished log cabin – it has several borders after the red batik.

I’m now sewing stage 2 of the Biscotti and hope to take some photos of that. 🙂
I enjoy finding quilt making evidence in ‘strange’ (to me) places. Here is one of those events that I saw online recently:

You can find info on this ice fishing shelter located in Minnesota here.
(Hah! See that? I’m always learning – now I kinda know how to embed a url in my text). 🙂
Tomorrow is going to be a big day. I have a class/club meeting at 1 p.m. at Springwater Designs quilt shop (Wool Club). Then at 6:30 p.m – 8 p.m. I am teaching crazy quilt stitching to my evening guild group of Faithful Circle. I still have some prep to do for class so I expect my non-meeting time tomorrow will be busy, too.
🙂 Linda
