This is an Xray of a human shoulder – NOT MINE. πŸ™‚ I did get my shoulder and my neck X-rayed this afternoon, though. Was an interesting experience … ‘stand this way, lift your chin, turn your back’ … you know. πŸ™‚ I’ve been having pains in my left shoulder – which my doctor and I think are associated with a pinched nerve in my neck, or maybe with rotator cuff injuries. πŸ˜›

The weather is sunny and hot today – 90s outside when I went out around 1 p.m. Average summer weather here in Maryland. πŸ™‚ Plenty of flowering things to brighten up the area, too. I did not tarry to take pics today – too hot (imho) to stand around outside. πŸ™‚

Friday I drove Patty and I around to the last three quilt shops on our Hop passport – Three Little Birds in Hyattsville, MD was first. Finding the shop was an adventure since neither Patty nor I are at all familiar with the area. VERY nice shop! It is combined with an excellent yarn shop in one teal colored store front second from the corner, right across the street from a public parking ramp. I’m sorry I didn’t think to take photos – was too mesmerized by the array of beautiful fabrics and goodies. Very ‘modern’ shop and truly enticing goods. Happy sighs.

Then we drove on to G Street Fabrics in Rockville. I have been shopping with G Street since the late 80s. I bought the fabrics for making samples in my first book at that shop when it was on Rockville Pike. It has moved twice since then – neither of us had been in the new location which was pretty large (but not as big as the ‘old’ G Street). A lot of gorgeous (and very expensive) fancy dressmaking and decorating fabrics. A pretty good sized wall is quilting prints — lots of lovely batiks and a pretty good selection of ‘modern’ prints. Friendly clerks. Great array of buttons and trims. Just what I expected to find. πŸ™‚

Last on our list was Capital Quilts in Shady Grove. I’ve been shopping there since the late 90s – the shop is now on its third (?) set of owners, I think. Again, really nice place. When I walked in the clerk said ‘Hello, Linda!’ I was too embarrassed to tell her I did not remember her name, especially since she clearly knew who I was. πŸ™‚ Had such a good time petting everything and found a pattern to use my dragon prints (fingers crossed). Patty had her take a photo of the two of us since it was our finishing shop:

I mailed off my passport to the MidAtlantic Shop Hop folks today – unlikely to win anything but what the heck. πŸ™‚

This past Tuesday I took my brother grocery shopping as usual. We went to a new-to-us local Silver Diner restaurant for lunch. I had a delicious meal – Tuna Poke Bowl. Oishii desu! (tasty:)

My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Gotta go back fer shure.

I’ve been working on my Eagle project, too. Just need to get the binding and label on it and it will be done:

This is the embroidery. Again, this pattern was traced off an antique Baltimore album quilt made in 1873 (?). Here is the border I’m adding:

I’m planning to bind it with that blue print I used in the triangles and a red flange. Gotta get to it as I need to be able to show it off for photos at the September Grad Class meeting. πŸ™‚

Life is hot here as is appropriate in the summer in Maryland .. and I am still being (mostly) lazy, with reading, YouTube watching and cooking … and time is flying past!

πŸ™‚ Linda
