I’ve been skimping on this blog yet again. Grin. This time with good excuses – this past week was birthdays galore at our house. September is a big month for special days for us – the 16th was my Dad’s birth day (and is now my nephew/niece’s); the 28th was my brother Alan’s day; the 23rd is my beloved husband’s birthday and the 24th is our son Hugh’s day. (Oh, and September 22nd is Bilbo’s birthday:)
This year we did nothing very special, really. Just good wishes and some New York style cheesecake to celebrate. This was a big ‘speed limit’ birthday for my husband (the 80th!) and official ‘middle age’ for my son (my baby!) newly aged 42. 🙂
What have I been doing otherwise? Well, the usual daily chores added into doctor’s visits, weekly Japanese classes at the local community college with my sweetheart, some sewing (am finishing up with my Eagle project) and embroidery (taught Shisha embroidery to my quilt guild this past Monday evening and am now well into an obsession:). Lots of naps, video watching and book reading mixed into all that, of course.
The photo above shows a nice pile of plaid fabric squares picked up from the freebie table at guild recently. Found a great (simple) quilt pattern to make them into and am raring to start in … with, sadly, many projects ahead of this one in line. Squirrels indeed!
Since this month is commonly referred to as Blogtober, I am going to try to post daily (and will be happy with three times weekly) this month. Maybe I can get the habit well established before Halloween?
🙂 Linda
